The New Year is just six days old, but many resolutions are already quietly fizzling out. And that’s especially true for the resolution people make most, which is to lose a few pounds.
But that doesn’t have to be the case for YOU.
Because while diets can be tough… particularly at the start… committing to a permanent change is surprisingly easier. Since when you’re no longer waiting around for the day your diet will be over, you can merely start living again.
In other words, you aren’t doing the Mediterranean or Keto diet; you’re living the Mediterranean or Keto LIFESTYLE
So hang in there. And remember as your body detoxes from all the junk you were eating before your weight loss resolution you might feel worse. But that feeling won’t last.
And if you need a little extra help to stick with it, don’t feel bad. And don’t turn to dangerous pills, crash diets, or weird gimmicks either.
2 tricks to help you stick to your weight loss resolution
Try one of these two weight-loss-supporting tricks instead.
1. Embrace acupuncture:
You’re skeptical that acupuncture can really help with your weight loss resolution. Am I right?
Well, I get it. After all, many mainstream “experts” spend their time trashing things they don’t understand. Which means you’ve probably heard them dismissing acupuncture as pure bunk many times before.
But here’s what they don’t want you to know. Studies have proven this ancient technique can be very effective for supporting weight loss. Even if we aren’t entirely sure how it works yet.
Ancient Chinese healers believed there are points on the outer parts of our ears which connect with every part of your body. And when you stimulate those points on your ears, they can have an effect on the matching points on your body.
In a study, volunteers given a five-point acupuncture treatment to support weight loss shed six percent of their body mass index or BMI. While folks who got a needle in their single “hunger point” lost 5.7 percent of their BMI.
And before mainstream medicine misinformation has you dismissing these remarkable results as just a placebo effect, you should know the researchers thought of that. The study also included a placebo group who received a sham treatment, and they lost ZERO weight.
Plus acupuncture has been shown to help with bunches of other issues from depression to pain relief too.
2. Outsmart temptation:
Before your new healthier lifestyle settles into second nature, temptation will come knocking at your willpower’s door. In fact, chances are that’s why you’re nearly ready to drop your brand new weight loss resolution so soon.
But you CAN outsmart temptation. And all it takes is a little preplanning.
- always eat something healthy and filling before heading out to an event
- slip a couple healthy eats such as single servings of almonds into your desk, bag, or purse so when a snack attack hits you have a good option on hand
- remove YOURSELF from temptation when you’re at a party or buffet by filling a plate with healthy nibbles such as veggies and cheese cubes and then moving as far away from the food as possible
Can’t get away from the temptations? Believe it or not simply avoiding LOOKING at them can work in a pinch. The now-famous cookie study from the 70s proved it works.
Researchers placed children in a room with a deliciously tempting cookie or marshmallow. They were told they could go ahead and eat the treat if they wished. Or they could wait for the researcher to return from a short errand and then a second cookie or marshmallow would be the reward.
As you can guess, scarcely before the scientists had left the room most of the kids had gobbled down the cookie or marshmallow. But all of the kids who were able to resist the temptation shared a common strategy. They avoided looking at the treat.
Some kids covered their eyes, while others put their heads down or created imaginary friends to focus on. And while chatting with an imaginary friend when the dessert cart comes around might not be an option for you, you CAN say no thanks right away and choose to not even look at the possibilities.
And your reward will be feeling healthier and losing those extra pounds.
