Your doctor makes it sound so simple. “Just lose some weight.”
As if weight loss is that easy. But if you’ve ever struggled with your weight, you know the truth.
It’s NOT easy. It NEVER is.
But that’s about to change for you today. As the latest science reveals a safe and natural compound that can give your body a head start in the race to lose some weight.
Don’t worry. This isn’t some gimmick that requires turning your life upside down. And it doesn’t involve extra exercise… counting calories… or making drastic changes to your diet, either.
In fact, it can even work if you make NO CHANGES at all.
The biggest benefits go the neediest folks
Lipoic acid, also called alpha-lipoic acid and ALA, is an unsung hero of the nutritional world. Most people are barely aware of it. And that’s if they’re even aware of it at all.
But your body sure knows what ALA is and what it does. And it has some vital roles to play in keeping you healthy, including…
- metabolizing sugar
- fighting inflammation
- blocking the damage of oxidative stress
Plus, this powerful antioxidant also acts as a charger for your internal batteries. It helps convert food into energy by breaking down carbs and juicing up your mitochondria. Those are the tiny power plants at the heart of each of your cells.
In the new study, volunteers were given 600 mg per day or a placebo for 24 weeks.
Now, to be fair, the supplements didn’t help everyone with weight loss. Overweight folks who were closer to a normal weight didn’t see a big benefit. But the supplements DID help the people who needed it most… the volunteers who were obese.
ALA is the HIDDEN HERO of weight loss
After six months, when compared to the placebo group, the obese patients had shed…
- FIVE percent of body weight
- NINE percent of body fat
And while those numbers aren’t huge, remember, they were NOT on a diet. In fact, they were specifically ordered not to make any changes to their eating habits.
In other words, this was GENUINE weight loss, with literally ZERO effort.
Imagine how much more effective it would be if you combined it with some small changes to your diet. You could try giving up processed foods, especially refined grains, sugars, and other empty carbs. Or making just a modest effort to eat a little less and a bit better.
I usually wouldn’t get TOO excited about a single study. But this actually isn’t the first time we’ve seen this link. A couple of years ago, researchers looked at 13 studies on lipoic acid and weight loss and found a benefit in 10.
There is one catch when it comes to ALA. There are several forms of the antioxidant. The most common one… the “S” form, which is synthetic… was NOT the one used in the new study.
They used the “R” form, which is the form found naturally in your body and nature. It’s a little more expensive. But I’ve poked around online and found it’ll generally cost about $15-$20 per month to get the levels used in the study.
You can also boost your ALA levels by eating more spinach, broccoli, tomatoes, green peas, and Brussel’s sprouts. And if you’re looking to juice up your metabolism, even more, check out my 6 secret steps to a speedy fat-burning metabolism by clicking here.
