Supercharge your fat loss effortlessly
Researchers from Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences made a remarkable discovery. The deliciously savory spice cumin has the power to help you jumpstart weight loss, improve cholesterol levels and decrease your body fat.1
Over three months two groups of overweight women reduced their calorie intake by about 500 calories a day, participated in nutritional counseling and ate five ounces of plain yogurt daily. But one of the two groups also got three grams (a little less than a teaspoon) of cumin swirled into their yogurt.
The lucky ladies who had a daily dose of cumin lost more weight than the control group (three pounds overall). But that’s not where the benefits ended, according to the study published in the journal Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice. The cumin eaters had their body fat percentages plummet by 14.64 percent, nearly triple the drop the other dieters saw.
Slash triglycerides and LDL cholesterol
Harmful blood fats took a nose dive too, with triglycerides dropping 23 points for the savory yogurt eaters, while the control group only had a five point reduction. And the cumin crowd also dropped ten points off their LDL or “bad” cholesterol numbers, compared to just half a point in the other group.
You can follow in the footsteps of the cumin loving ladies in the study by replacing your usual ranch or onion dip with a simple yogurt and cumin dip instead.
For a single serving to go with lunch or dinner mix around a teaspoon of cumin into five ounces of plain yogurt (make sure the yogurt you choose says “live and active cultures” on the label) and serve with your favorite dipping veggies such as carrots, peppers, squash and broccoli.
Spice up the recipe by stirring in some dill or chives. Or perhaps try adding a dash of garlic powder, onion powder and chili powder if you prefer. Like a thicker dip? Add a few dollops of your favorite hummus. And for a bigger crowd simply triple or quadruple the recipe.
