Around here, we happen to think that EVERY body is a beach body.
But that doesn’t mean we don’t also like to feel like we look our best in lightweight summer clothes too. And let’s face it, when you’re unhappy about some extra padding around your middle that can be hard to do.

Plus, the best part of all? You get to eat some foods you ALREADY love while you’re doing it.
Summer foods which will help you lose weight
Get healthier and look like a million bucks by eating more of these seven delicious and nutritious summer foods.
The temperatures are rising out there and that means we’re in peak berry season. Berries are the ultimate summer foods. And lucky for us these sweet treats are both delicious AND healthy.
When you’re trying to banish belly fat berries are a nearly perfect choice. Ripe berries taste like candy, satisfying your sweet tooth. But they’re also loaded with fiber which helps keep your blood sugar stable. And that means you’re far less likely to reach for other unhealthy snacks, or overeat.
Berries are full of nutrients you need. And they’re some of the best sources of the disease-fighting antioxidants which help keep your system humming along efficiently.
An early study out of the University of Michigan found that blueberries in particular might help blast away belly fat. So make sure to include them in the mix.
Resveratrol, the same stuff that makes grapes good for your heart, is packed into cherries, as well. And it turns out resveratrol is good for your waistline too.
Studies have linked the resveratrol found in cherries to an increase in metabolism and the weight loss to go with it. And a Washington State study found that resveratrol helps our bodies convert unhealthy white fat into energy producing brown fat.
You don’t need to confine your grapefruit eating to breakfast time alone. Their deliciously unique sweet tart taste makes them perfect for snacking and desserts too. Or toss some grapefruit slices into your favorite salad or side dish for an unexpected twist.
Studies show this classic summertime treat can help keep insulin levels in check. So you’re less likely to overeat or reach for one too many snacks.
Plus, the enzymes that help keep blood sugar stable also help boost your metabolism. Which means this summer food favorite delivers a one-two weight loss punch.
4. Green tea:
Replace your sugary lemonade or soda pop with iced green tea this summer and watch the weight melt away. The compound EGCG, found in green tea, helps burn fat while dialing down your appetite at the same time.
Add some fresh mint for a punch of flavor and an extra weight loss boost. Mint has a well-earned reputation as a natural appetite suppressant. For best results, drink at least four glasses of green tea a day.
I’ve preached about the vision benefits of lycopene many times before here in Healthier Talk. But the lycopene in beautiful ripe red tomatoes can do more than just help protect your eyes. It could also help you beat the battle of the bulge.
Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant which helps regulate the appetite controlling hormone leptin. So go ahead and toss some tomatoes into your morning omelet, opt for a tomato sandwich at lunch, or toss together a fresh tomato and avocado salad to go with your dinner.
I’ve been singing the praises of avocados for years too. They bring tons of health benefits to the table. And despite their rich flavor, banishing belly fat happens to be one of them.
A study out of the University of Pennsylvania found that it takes less than 1.5 ounces of the monosaturated fat found in these delicious summer foods to reduce belly fat by 1.6 percent. And a Loma Linda University study found that folks who ate half an avocado with lunch were less hungry and less interested in snacking for up to five hours after the meal.
If you were to ask me which of the seasonal summer foods is my favorite, I’d have a hard time choosing just one. But there’s no question watermelon would be in my top five.
Watermelon is as satisfyingly sweet as any decadent dessert. Yet this summertime favorite is 92 percent water. Which means it helps fill you up while keeping you hydrated.
Plus, watermelon is a great source of the same appetite suppressing lycopene that you find in tomatoes.
Life’s far too short to beat yourself up every time you look in the mirror. So it’s important to love the skin you’re in.
But if you want a little less skin to love, that’s fine too. Simply replace some of your less than healthy snacks with these delicious summer foods instead. And you’ll end up beating that belly fat without even trying.
