Tossing… turning… and checking the clock.
We’ve all been there from time to time.
But if it’s happening more often than not, it might be time to check something else. It’s time to check in with a doctor, and not to ask for a sleeping pill.
That’s the last thing in the world you need.
They come with far too many risks of their own. (I’ll have more on those a little later.) Plus, they don’t lead to a significant increase in the amount of quality sleep.
No, you need a doc with the brains to figure out what’s ACTUALLY going on. Because there’s a good chance, it’s not just a sleep problem you’re struggling with.
And when you find out what’s REALLY on the line, you’re going to want to straighten your insomnia out FAST.
Because as it turns out, it’s not just a matter of being sharper and more focused the next day.
It could be a matter of LIFE and DEATH.
How sleepless nights could lead to a PERMANENT sleep
Sleep disorders are one of the most common health problems facing Americans today. And that’s across ALL age groups, with seniors getting hit especially hard.
Even worse, the older you get, the more likely your sleep struggles could lead to something a whole lot worse.
Because you’re not just facing slogging through days feeling tired and cranky. New research based on testing people for the genes that make you prone to insomnia finds sleep loss can lead to a higher risk of…
- heart disease
- heart failure
Those are three of the TOP causes of death in the nation. And even if they don’t kill you, they could destroy your quality of life.
Heart failure, when your heart is no longer able to pump blood the way it should, can make it a struggle just to get out and do the things you love. While the damage left by a stroke is one of the nation’s leading causes of disability, especially in seniors.
The new study points out that no one should face these risks because sleep is something you can “modify.”
But is it really?
Fight insomnia and protect your heart NATURALLY
If you battle with insomnia you know getting over it is a lot easier said than done. Some folks can’t conk out no matter how hard they try. And that’s when they might be tempted to make a HUGE mistake and ask for those sleep meds I mentioned earlier.
I get why they’re so attractive. Pop a pill, fall asleep, problem solved.
Except you end up creating a whole new set of problems, including some even worse than what’s found in the new study.
Even occasionally using sleep meds can more than TRIPLE your risk of death.
In many cases, especially in older folks, sleep loss can be due to lower-than-normal levels of the “sleep hormone” melatonin. As you age, your melatonin production drops off. And exposure to lots of blue light in the evenings, like from a tablet computer or cellphone, can mess with your levels too.
The good news is you CAN replace those drooping levels with a melatonin supplement. Look for a spray formula if you can find it. It will kick in quicker so you can slip off to sleep faster.
CBD is another great sleep aid… as is valerian root.
Still can’t get the shuteye you need? Have a doc check your meds for any that could have insomnia as a side effect. And ask him if you can replace any questionable meds with safer natural options instead.
