Still sitting on the fence about the importance of breakfast?
Well, you can climb down now. Because a major new study has confirmed what I’ve been telling you all along.
Skipping breakfast is BAD for your health.
We first started warning readers about this risk nearly 10 years ago. Blowing off breakfast regularly could leave you fat and sick.
Past research has found folks who skip breakfast have bigger waist sizes.
And breakfast-shunning folks tend to have higher total and LDL cholesterol levels as well as higher fasting insulin levels.
The writing has been on the wall for years. Bouncing out of the house before breakfast on the regular could harm your heart and metabolic health.
And the new study makes it clear EXACTLY what’s at stake… and that’s YOUR LIFE!
Because according to researchers, skipping breakfast can send your risk of dying from heart disease soaring.
Skipping breakfast could STOP your heart
We’re not talking about a small bump in risk either. No, it’s a HUGE spike.
Researchers say folks who blow off breakfast daily have a stunning 87 percent HIGHER risk of keeling over dead from heart complications.
And while we’re not talking about a cause and effect type study here that kind of jump isn’t mere coincidence.
The new study, published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, says skipping breakfast is linked to…
- changes in appetite
- higher blood pressure
- dangerous changes in cholesterol levels
- less satisfaction after eating
And after anywhere from 17 to 23 years of follow up, the association between not eating breakfast and death from heart disease remained solid.
Morning meals linked to healthier weight & metabolism
So what about those rumored weight benefits that some folks promise from skipping breakfast?
Well, research has found folks who regularly eat a morning meal gain LESS WEIGHT over time. And the reason why is simple.
When you don’t fuel up at the start of the day you risk running out of energy. Not surprisingly that leads to overeating and stuffing your face with junk later.
Which is why breakfast eaters tend to eat healthier throughout the rest of their day.
In other words, when it comes to weight breakfast isn’t a magic pill. It just helps you feel more satisfied and make better diet choices.
And if you like the idea of fasting for weight loss try intermittent fasting. It’s a proven way to shed weight that can IMPROVE your metabolic health.
It doesn’t involve skipping breakfast… or any other meals for that matter.
Instead, you restrict the number of hours you allow yourself to eat. The most common choice is to hold breakfast until 10 AM and then stop all eating after 6 PM.
But whether or not you choose to stick to more traditional meal times or try intermittent fasting, don’t skip breakfast. And keep in mind the old adage, “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper.”
Research has found eating your heaviest meal earlier in the day, and finishing with a lighter dinner is better for weight control and metabolic health.
