Your body is a self-healing machine that works its heart out to be well, day in and day out.
But it can’t do the job alone. You have to stop kicking it in the shins with toxins and poor diet, and start providing it with the nutrition it needs to do all the heavy lifting.
When you give your body what it needs, it jumps up and down with glee. But it’s not a straight up the charts with a bullet kind of thing.
But if you start a vitamin or mineral that hits a huge deficiency in your body, it can be dramatic. At least for a while.
Barbara, who remembers being tired all her life, got my e-book, Pep for the Pooped: Vitamins and Minerals Your Body Is Starving For, and started implementing the vitamins and minerals step by step, the approach I recommend.
Over several months, she sent e-mails about her progress. Noticeable, but not all she wanted it to be.
Then one day, she took Iodoral. A single 12.5 mg tablet. The next day, energy was flowing, and she felt better than she could remember. This is it! This is it!
But the next day, things went backwards. That “all is well” feeling disappeared. Talk about disappointment!
What’s that about, she wanted to know.
It’s about the fact her body really, really needs what Iodoral offers. So, as bodies in distress are wont to do, it reacted strongly.
But since a one-day dose didn’t fill her vast, empty reservoir of need, her body decided she was only kidding. In other words, her body was as disappointed as she was.
I wondered if she might want to go on a front-loading dose of 50mg in split doses for a few months and see what her body had to say about that. And she decided to give it a go.
As it turned out, her body slurped up the 12.5mg, loved the 25mg arrangement and thought highly of the 37.5mg plan. At the 50mg level, though, her body said fuhgeddaboutit.
So she backed off to 37.5mg. That will fill the empty reservoir, too, just not as quickly. But if your body’s been down in the dumps for a long time, fast fixes can overwhelm it. Which may be the story about the 50mg trial.
After a while, Barbara may decided to try 50mg again–if her symptoms suggest her body is ready for it. Or she may never need to go past 37.5mg.
Our bodies tell us what they need, but we have to learn to listen and understand.
Well, how about if she quits all the other supplements and just takes Iodoral, since it’s the one that got her attention.
Sorry, but it doesn’t work that way. Vitamins and minerals work together, not alone. That’s why I keep pounding the pulpit about always starting with a multi vitamin/mineral to get some synergy going.
Then you need to build on that synergy.
If Barbara had started out with Iodoral alone, her body might not have been able to use it. At all. Even though she needed it. And she might have decided it was useless to her.
But she set up a full program for herself, then stepped it out, so her body was ready to give her a shazam reaction. And now she’s building again, this time her iodine reserves. And I have a good feeling that she’ll keep building. She’s determined to feel good.
And another thing. We read lots and lots of ads about fancy supplements that do this and exotic supplements that do that.
But until you get your basic nutrition in place, fancy stuff doesn’t work well. Maybe not at all.
I can say that with authority because tried the fancy-first approach, and it got me nowhere. As in absolutely nowhere.
Basic blocking and tackling may not be exciting, but that’s what works. In football and in nutrition.
