Can you smell that?
There’s more than cinnamon and nutmeg in the air this autumn. There’s the stench of DESPERATION too.
As the mainstream cooks up yet ANOTHER plot to push a dying class of meds on folks who don’t want or need them.
And men, you need to pay close attention this time. Because this latest scam is aimed directly at you and your prostate.
They’re trying to SCARE guys into taking cholesterol meds with a new study that implies rejecting the drugs could put you in the fast lane for prostate cancer.
But there’s more to this study than meets the eye. And when you see the FULL story, you’ll want to keep as far away from these meds as possible.
Statin prostate cancer ‘ protection’ comes at a steep cost
The researchers claim their new study shows guys who take statin drugs to cut cholesterol also have a lower risk of developing prostate cancer.
More specifically, that the drugs will cut the risk of low-grade tumors by 15 percent and high-grade ones by 46 percent.
If you fear cancer… and, of course, you should… that might sound like a terrific deal. But there’s a catch.
And hold on to your hat, because it’s a DOOZY.
Over the first 10 months, your risk of cancer could SKYROCKET by as much as 88 percent. YIKES!
The potential benefit only kicks in after 11 months. And that’s only when you’re downing the highest doses of the statins.
But the bad news doesn’t end there.
Another study a few years back found a strong link between long-term use of cholesterol meds and cancer in certain folks. In other words, they could CAUSE cancer.
And yes, that includes that prostate cancer you’re being told to take the drugs to avoid. DOUBLE YIKES!
Skip the risky drugs and try THIS instead
If that doesn’t scare you off, maybe this will. When you take statins long-term, and at higher doses in hopes of cutting your cancer risk, you’re much more likely to face a parade of other ugly side effects.
Some people suffer muscle pain so severe they can barely get dressed, often a sign of dangerously low levels of the coenzyme Q10 that powers your cells.
There’s also a risk of…
- brain fog
- sexual side effects
- weakness
- cataracts
And of course, the drugs could even CAUSE diabetes.
And even when statins cut LDL cholesterol, they DON’T always save lives. Because they don’t target the real problem.
No wonder men and women alike are rejecting them.
As you’ve read here in Healthier Talk, the real key to perfect cholesterol isn’t popping a pill to sink your LDL, which can do much more harm than good.
- It’s to raise your levels of HDL (aka “good” cholesterol) naturally. Omega-3s can help there.
- And then selectively target the most dangerous form of cholesterol, oxidized LDL, with natural antioxidants such as astaxanthin.
And to naturally lower your prostate cancer risk, skip the statins and stock up on coffee instead. A study published in the International Journal of Cancer found drinking three or more cups of java a day was linked to a 53 percent reduced risk of prostate cancer.
This common-sense approach won’t enrich a drug company. But it CAN vastly improve your health. And when it comes down to it, that’s the only thing that really matters.
