It’s yet ANOTHER way the drug industry preys on unsuspecting patients in desperate need of help.
They’re given just what they think they need: a drug that’s SUPPOSED to help fight whatever it is they’re facing.
But they’re getting something else entirely.
They’re getting CONNED!
Turns out some of the prescription drugs on the market right now – meds for everything from cancer to tuberculosis and beyond – SHOULDN’T be there at all because they were NEVER proven to work.
But they made it anyway – and it’s all thanks to an ugly scam of a program that was FDA’s sweetest gift to the drug industry.
Some “approved” prescription drugs were NEVER really approved
The call it the Accelerated Approval Program, but like everything else out of the FDA that name is HUGELY misleading.
Many of these prescription drugs HAVEN’T been approved.
They were pre-approved… because the research isn’t there yet… but allowed on the market anyway with the condition that new studies must be done to confirm they’re both safe and effective.
Well, you can guess what happens next. Those studies often NEVER get done.
The new analysis finds 36 percent of “pre-approved” prescription drugs in this program have never had those required studies done.
“Required!” Yet they’re not done. Some “requirement” that turned out to be.
This is insane – and wildly irresponsible – from a patient’s point of view.
But from a drug company’s point of view? It’s EASY money!
It costs big bucks to do these trials. MILLIONS. If they FDA isn’t enforcing this requirement… and clearly, they’re not… why shell out that money?
Even if the FDA did start enforcing it, you can bet the prescription drugs wouldn’t be pulled off the market. That’s NOT how they operate.
They need proof the drug is unsafe or ineffective before they can withdraw a med. And how do you get that proof?
With a study, of course. Since those studies are NOT being done, it’s the most profitable Catch-22 in existence. The feds never get the data, and the drug stays on in perpetuity, without ever getting “full” approval.
Once again, it’s profits over patients and real people… who THINK they’re getting a treatment that made it through approvals… are little more than lab rats for these untested, unproven, prescription drugs.
But you DON’T have to be one of them.
3 key questions to ask your doc BEFORE taking that med
If you doc is trying to get you onto a newer drug and you’re not familiar with it, pepper him with questions.
Don’t just ask if it was approved; he might assume it was. They don’t exactly advertise this little swindle. Besides, even prescription drugs that have been fully approved often have lingering issues.
Instead, ask these three specific questions:
- Is there evidence that this will work for me?
- What are the risks and side effects?
- Do I have other options?
That last one is the most important of all. There are ALWAYS other options, and a good doc you can trust will take a few moments to go over the pros and cons of each.
And a REALLY good doc will let you decide.
Don’t think you’re being heard? Feeling pushed or pressured?
Get a second opinion – ideally from a naturopathic doctor who can help you avoid prescription drugs you don’t need and the risks that come with them.
