It’s the BIGGEST difference between healthy aging and letting time do its worst number on you.
You know what I mean.
It’s not just a matter of being a little older. It’s a matter of FEELING old – feeling slow, tired, and downright weak.
But in reality, it’s NOT about your age.
There’s one key factor that could mean the difference between keeping your strength at ANY age and being forced to slow down.
And today, I’m going to let you in on a little secret that could help put you in that first group.
A “solar-powered” trick that that can be used to help keep yourself feeling STRONG and staying “YOUNG” regardless of your age.
This bright idea can help SAVE your muscles
There’s a single nutrient that doesn’t get nearly the attention it deserves when it comes to muscles. But that’s about to change in a BIG way.
You’ve heard all about D benefits from me before, of course. From supporting a healthy immune system to living longer.
And when we’re low in the “sunshine vitamin” we’re also more likely to suffer from a slew of other health issues including obesity, diabetes, dementia, depression, heart disease, cancer, and more.
But now new research puts vitamin D on the MUSCLE map.
The new study reveals how this vital vitamin can help seniors to overcome the muscle wasting that can lead to so much misery in the later years.
Seniors with low D levels are TWICE as likely to have weaker muscles and THREE TIMES more likely to suffer from impaired “muscle performance,” specifically in skeletal muscles.
This is the most important muscle of all – needed to ensure mobility, prevent falls, and help maintain your quality of life.
When you lose this muscle, you can face frailty.
That’s when everything goes to heck in a handbasket. You not only get weaker fast but feel every bit your age and then some.
And that decline starts with low D with the study finding the LOWER your levels sink, the BIGGER the risk of falls in strength and performance after the age of 60.
Build muscle strength for healthier aging
Now, D is, of course, a great idea at any age. And with so many folks running low, there’s a good chance your own levels need topping up too. Your doc can order a simple blood test to check your levels.
A little more time under the sun, so your body can crank out its own D, won’t hurt, either (just be sure cover up or head inside before you burn).
The sunshine vitamin gets even more critical as you get older, as it’s involved in bone, immune function, cardiovascular health, and so much more.
But let’s focus on muscle for today. Along with boosting D, make sure you cover all your muscle-boosting bases…
- Eat more protein, especially dairy and fresh cuts of organic, grass-fed meat. Many seniors don’t get enough, and that can speed muscle loss.
- Don’t forget amino acids, especially muscle-friendly creatine, betaine, and taurine.
- Exercise is important too. No need to join a gym or torture yourself. Just putting the muscles to work a little bit each day doing things you enjoy, like swimming, walking, or dancing, will do the trick.
Sure, you might not win arm-wrestling contests anymore. But you CAN support healthy muscles to stay strong and independent at any age.
