Once upon a time, it seemed like the craziest idea in medicine.
Medical marijuana? That CAN’T be real. It’s just an excuse for some pot-heads to get stoned without getting arrested, right?
And sure, some folks did just that, getting bogus diagnoses to get a prescription from a “pot doc” in states where it’s legal.
But there’s a whole lot more to it than that.
New research, at last, reveals the TRUTH about medical marijuana.
It proves the benefits are real, for multiple conditions.
And it can make a life-changing difference for seniors working desperately to avoid dangerous prescription drugs for pain, nerves, cancer, sleep, and more.
Medical marijuana has PROVEN benefits for seniors
These days, you don’t have to be the Cheech and Chong type to use marijuana.
In fact, you don’t even have to go “Up In Smoke” with it, either, since there are ways to get the active ingredients without ever lighting up (including edibles, oils, vaporizers, and more).
You can be as straight-laced as they come… someone who never touched the stuff back in the day… and still take advantage of the benefits of medical marijuana now, because the new study focused exclusively on seniors.
Specifically, in folks around the age of 75.
And it confirmed a wide range of benefits across the board for neurological conditions including…
- chronic pain
- Parkinson disease
- multiple sclerosis
Eases pain without pills and MORE
Overall, 69 percent of patients who tried medical marijuana – via liquid extract tincture, capsule, or electronic vaporizer – saw some benefit.
The biggest was in pain, where half of the patients had some level of relief.
More importantly, opioid use was slashed by a third in patients who used medical marijuana. Which is a HUGE benefit for folks worried about pain-pill addiction.
About a fifth of patients were able to ease sleep problems, and a sixth got help for their neuropathy.
Those two might not sound like huge benefits to some folks, but I’ve seen drugs get approved with lesser results. And if you have a sleep problem or neuropathy, you don’t need ME to tell YOU how they can affect your quality of life.
Medical marijuana is easy enough to give a shot to see if it works for you.
The risks are low as the study finds that only one in five folks had any side effects. The most common was sleepiness, which is great if your original problem is you can’t sleep!
So if it works, terrific.
If it doesn’t, then move on to other options (despite the myths – and unlike many meds – marijuana is NOT addictive).
Obviously, this is still a taboo in many places, and it’s not for everyone.
But if you have a condition where you might benefit, and medical marijuana is legal in your state, then don’t let tired old stereotypes stand in your way.
Medical marijuana clearly ISN’T as crazy as it used to sound.
And as the new study shows, it’s a whole lot more “medical” than many of the drugs the mainstream is selling.
