It’s sold as the most basic diet advice of all. And it’s a recommendation you probably hear AT LEAST once a week. “Toss the salt shaker and cut WAY back on your salt,” they tell you.
But if you take this mainstream medicine advice at face value, you could end up paying the ultimate price. Because it turns out if you slash your salt down to ULTRA-low levels you might MISS out on one of sodium’s BIGGEST benefits.
New research reveals that salt has the potential to help us FIGHT OFF cancer and WIPE OUT tumor cells.
In other words, your “salt habit” could help prevent a tumor from forming in the first place. And if you already have the disease, sodium could help to prevent the cancer from spreading.
The problem is many folks… especially seniors… aren’t getting ENOUGH salt.
In fact, they’re following all that mainstream advice and actively avoiding it.
Salt could hold the key to beating cancer
I get it. You’ve heard so much about the “dangers” of salt that you’re probably downright terrified of the stuff.
But with all the bogeyman talk, it’s easy to forget that salt ISN’T an enemy.
In fact, in the right levels, sodium is an essential mineral your body needs to keep fluids in balance and ensure healthy nerve and muscle function.
Now, the new study shows how it ALSO could help arm you against some of the deadliest cancers known to man, including lung cancer.
And it all starts by DISARMING your immune system.
Expose and target cancer using sodium
I know dialing back your immune system sounds like a crazy idea.
But here’s the thing: Your immune system is SO POWERFUL it has built-in checks on itself to stop it from attacking your own body.
Cancers are sneaky. They use that built-in immunity suppressor to cloak themselves and hide.
That’s where salt comes into the picture.
In a study on mice, a little extra sodium suppressed the suppressors. This allowed their immune systems to recognize and attack cancer cells.
And it worked in at least TWO different models on the mice, in both melanoma and lung cancer.
In less than two weeks, the salt-enhanced immune system turned against cancer cells, dramatically slowing the growth of the tumors.
Break out the shaker and enjoy your food again
Naturally, this was a study in mice, not people, so let’s not get too carried away. It’s not time to start eating salt by the bucket
But it IS more proof that salt is NOT the evil monster mainstream medicine has made it out to be.
In sensible levels, salt doesn’t just make your food taste better, it’s also essential to your health.
Some studies even show that a low-salt diet can be DANGEROUS, increasing the risk of everything from bone breaks to death. With older folks being its likeliest victims.
And, as the new study shows, that same “evil” salt could protect you from cancer, too.
You don’t want to start scarfing salt down by the truckload, of course. But this latest research highlights how the mainstream obsession with a super low-sodium diet can be ridiculous and even dangerous.
Unless you’re salt sensitive (a naturopathic doctor can help diagnose you) you typically DON’T have to stress over using some delicious Himalayan or sea salt to enhance the flavor of your meals.
And you certainly don’t need to fear salt from fresh foods, either. Just avoid overeating processed and prepackaged foods, which often contain boatloads of junk sodium not to mention all kinds of other unwanted additives.
