If you’ve put on a few unwanted pounds in the last couple of months, you’re in good company. It’s quite common to gain a few holiday pounds.
But if you’re like many folks, you’re determined to slim back down before spring.
Good news… you’ve come to the right place. Because we have four slim down tips, which are so easy (and effective) you’ve got to try them to believe them.
And don’t worry; there aren’t any convoluted diets or complicated pieces of equipment involved. Instead, these are simple small changes, which can help you noticeably lose weight in a week.

Following are four crazy simple weight loss hacks that can help you slim down FAST.
1. Jettison the juice:
I’ve warned you before about the sugar hit you take every time you down a glass of juice. But if you’re still indulging in a glass of OJ in the morning make a vow to sideline the juice until you shed those extra pounds.
It’s true that juice can contain a number of healthy nutrients. But those nutrients come with a steep price. Lots of sugar and very little (or none) of the fiber that comes with the original fruit. In fact, many experts say drinking fruit juice isn’t much better than downing a sugary soft drink.
A 12-ounce glass of Coca Cola, for example will run you around 40 grams of sugar. And the same amount of apple juice is essentially the same, at around 39 grams of sugar. Without fiber slowing your digestion down all that sugar is absorbed, and shuttled to your liver, just as quickly as the sugar in the soft drink. And when there’s far too much fructose to process, your liver converts some of it into fat.
Drop the juice from your diet and you’ll find that you start to noticeably lose weight in a week.
2. Hide your chair:
Keeping your seat out of your seat can have all kinds of unexpected health benefits, including helping you drop a few pounds. Simply standing for an extra hour a day will burn around 40 extra calories. Stand longer and you’ll burn more.
Toss in some simple toe raises and general fidgeting and you’ll burn through even more with no extra effort.
At work if you have a standing desk option take it. Or create a temporary version of your own with some cleverly stacked boxes or books (just make sure it’s stable!) And at home stand instead of sitting while watching your favorite TV show or folding the laundry.
3. Ditch the chips:
If you’re anything like me, movie night (or my favorite TV show for that matter) REQUIRES a crunchy snack to be a true success. But chips, cheese puffs and other assorted crunchy-snack options are a no-no anytime, let alone when you’re trying to shed the holiday weight.
So what’s the solution? I’ve got two of them for you to cover both sides of the snacking spectrum…sweet and salty. And swapping out your chips for either one can help you slim down fast.
First for your salty snack needs try homemade kale chips. They’ll satisfy your crunchy snack cravings while slashing the empty calories out of your life. And they’re so easy to make you’ll wonder why you didn’t make the switch earlier.
Fill a cookie sheet with bite size pieces of kale (pull the leaves off the heavier ribs). Drizzle lightly with olive oil, sprinkle with a dash of sea salt and your favorite spice mix such as ranch or barbecue (about a tablespoon or so) and toss.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and toast kale for around eight minutes or until the edges start to turn a bit brown and crispy. Eat right away.
Are you looking for a snack with a sweeter crunch instead? Wash a bunch of grapes, slide them into a Ziploc bag and pop them in the freezer for a few hours. Frozen grapes make terrific snacks and you’ll find just a few is all you need to satisfy your sweet tooth.
4. Wipe out white rice:
If you haven’t already dropped white rice from your diet, there’s no time like the present.
During processing white rice is stripped of its bran and germ before polishing to create the smooth white grain. Unfortunately, that process removes most of its valuable nutrients too.
To jumpstart your weight loss, dump the white rice and replace it with “riced” cauliflower instead. It’s super easy to make, nutritious and tasty too. Grate your cauliflower florets and then pulse them in the food processor. Use the resulting cauliflower rice anywhere you’d use white rice. If only rice will do, opt for brown. Research has found folks who limit their refined grains, but eat three or more whole grains such as brown rice a day, have 10 percent less belly fat than their peers.
Plus brown rice is lower on the glycemic index and delivers twice the blood-sugar friendly fiber that white rice does. Which means it’s more satisfying and helps you avoid the kind of blood sugar spikes that can send you to the kitchen with a snack attack.
