It’s no secret that fish is fantastic for you. When you take the time to find wild-caught varieties, of course.
And you already know how critical omega-3 fatty acids, found in fish and other seafood, are for your health, right?
Omega-3s can help guard against everything from Alzheimer’s to diabetes. In fact, the essential fatty acid can help protect your pieces and parts from head to toe… including your heart, eyes, and brain.
Heck, this stuff can EVEN slash your risk for developing gum disease. Talk about a multitasker.
Well, what would you say if I told you that you could get your hands on a supercharged version of this powerful oil? A variety that doesn’t JUST offer all the same protection but does it EVEN BETTER.
You’d want to know how, right? Well… spoiler alert… you CAN.
And best of all you don’t need to travel halfway around the world or beg your doctor for a prescription to get it.
Potent krill oil is rich in omega-3s
Because it turns out it’s been right under our noses this entire time. Hiding inside some tiny shrimp-like creatures which are a diet staple for many animals including whales, seals, and certain seabirds.
You may have heard of these itty-bitty crustaceans before. They’re called krill. But you probably didn’t know they’re a terrific source of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids.
Now we already knew that omega-3-rich krill oil, like the fish oil you’re probably more familiar with, could help protect us against a variety of diseases.
Now new research has given us a glimpse at just HOW powerful this strange shrimp oil may be.
But before I share the details of that study let me back up a bit first and tell you a few things we already knew about krill oil.
Krill oil may be even MORE powerful than fish oil
As I mentioned, the fish oil we know and love AND krill oil are terrific sources of critical omega-3s. However, experts say our bodies may be able to absorb krill oil better than fish oil.
[GA-Rectangle}Which, of course, means we may be able to get even more of the protection we’re looking for from those fatty acids.
You see the omega-3s in your fish oil are in the form of triglycerides. While those same fatty acids in krill come in the form of more absorbable phospholipids.
Plus while fish oil is fantastic, krill contains even more antioxidants.
Which brings us to that new study.
Krill oil raises omega-3s while lowering blood sugar
For eight weeks researchers had a group of volunteers… men and women between the ages of 18 and 70… randomly assigned to one of three groups…
- high-oleic sunflower oil capsules group
- krill oil capsules group
- lean fatty fish group
In both the krill oil and fish groups omega-3 fatty acid levels shot up. But the krill oil takers also had their fasting glucose levels drop.
And the researchers found that the krill oil had a direct impact on genes involved in cholesterol and glucose metabolism.
Meaning the all-natural oil has the potential to help us reduce our risk for type 2 diabetes AND heart disease. No drugs needed.
Krill oil targets the TRUE cholesterol problem
And unlike statins, krill oil has the potential to tackle the REAL cholesterol problem.
You see statin drugs are laser focused on your LDL cholesterol count. But the much bigger threat is oxidized LDL (oxLDL).
Fluffy and light LDL cholesterol isn’t much of a threat alone. But when LDL reacts with free radicals it oxidizes… becoming denser, stickier, more reactive, and downright dangerous. And oxLDL buildup on your artery walls leads to heart disease.
Big Pharma’s favorite cash cow, statins, ignores oxLDL. But krill oil is rich in a powerful antioxidant called astaxanthin which goes right to the heart of the problem.
Studies show that astaxanthin fights oxidation while significantly lowering LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels. In other words, unlike statins astaxanthin raises a powerful defense against dangerous oxLDL.
Plus, as a bonus, potent antioxidant-rich krill oil can raise your “good” heart-healthy HDL levels while lowering your blood sugar.
You can find krill oil capsules anywhere nutritional supplements are sold.
