When your doctor gave you the heart failure diagnosis, you KNEW it was a serious heart problem. But you likely DIDN’T expect it to hit you so hard in so many other ways.
That’s the first lesson of heart failure.
It’s not just some hidden condition deep inside your chest. Heart failure something you FEEL, every day, as your heart struggles it leads to battles with the rest of your body, including sometimes just trying to catch your breath.
But new research nails a safe and natural addition to your meals that can help with some of the most obvious and debilitating symptoms of heart failure.
It works because the study finds it helps where it matters most. It improves your body’s ability to soak up, absorb, and use oxygen. In turn, that can help ease the fatigue and mobility struggles that often accompany heart failure.
And perhaps most surprising of all is that you will find it in the cooking oil aisle at your local supermarket.
Ease heart failure symptoms with this golden oil
I’m talking about plain old, humble olive oil.
I’m sure you can probably find it as capsules in a supplement aisle too. But why bother?
The best way to get the benefits of… and ENJOY… olive oil is to buy it by the bottle and add it to your meals – especially your salads. Because the new study shows how extra virgin olive oil can make a noticeable real-world difference in folks living with the most common form of heart failure.
That’s heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. It represents half of all cases and is notorious for the limited treatment options.
If you have it, docs will tell you that you can pretty much expect those struggles. But that could be about to change in a BIG way.
In the new study, folks with this form of the disease were given about 2 tablespoons of olive oil per day for 12 weeks.
They had what the scientists called small but significant improvements in cardiorespiratory fitness. That’s the ability to get oxygen when you need it during any kind of activity, including exercise.
What’s more, a computer analysis of the data suggests that if they had increased the dosage… if they had given these folks 3 tablespoons a day instead of two… they would have enjoyed an even larger improvement in VO2max.
Beware of imposter olive oils
VO2max is one of the most critical measures of cardiorespiratory fitness. And it’s also one of the most difficult to restore, especially in heart failure.
So moving the dial at all is a HUGE win. And simple olive oil may do the trick.
But there’s just ONE problem with olive oil. Because there’s always a catch, right? Well, in this case, it’s making sure you have the honest-to-goodness real deal.
Believe it or not, fraud’s running rampant in the oil industry. Some bottles labeled “extra virgin” olive oil contain regular olive oil. Others are mixed with cheaper and much less healthy oils such as soybean.
In other words, don’t buy your olive oil at the discount store. Get genuine extra-virgin olive oil from a brand you know you can trust, or you’re just wasting your money.
