Heart disease guidelines lack scientific support

The new study finds that almost NONE of the guidelines are backed by multiple high-quality studies.
The analysis reviewed more than 6,300 treatment guidelines from the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, and the European Society of Cardiology.
It found that just 8.5 percent are backed by “Level A” evidence, or multiple randomized control trials.
I’d say it’s as if they’re making it up as they go, but that wouldn’t be accurate.
It’s not “as if” – it’s EXACTLY what they’re doing in many cases, with 41 percent of those heart disease guidelines based on “expert opinion” rather than sound science.
And 50 percent of those guidelines were based on very low levels of evidence. In some cases, a single small study.
