I bet you’ve found yourself stuck on the exercise merry-go-round before. Probably more than once, I’m guessing.
Perhaps you simply decided you needed to lose a few pounds to feel healthier or fit into your favorite pants again. Or maybe your doctor (or spouse) wouldn’t stop nagging you about losing some weight, so you felt you had no choice.
Either way, you dutifully followed conventional medical advice and started on an exhausting and uncomfortable exercise program. Which, let’s be honest, likely felt a lot more like torture than doing something good for yourself.
Yet, despite your best efforts, each time, you seem to get nowhere. The numbers on the scale simply won’t budge. And you end up feeling like a failure.
Well, my friend, it’s time to let go of the guilt. Because I’ve some got news for you today. It’s NOT your fault.
New research confirms again that exercise alone won’t help you lose weight.
But it also shows something else. And that’s an easy way to drop the pounds, get healthy, and finally, make your doctor happy.
The TRUTH about exercise and weight loss
The infomercials, the fitness gimmicks, the how-to exercise books, and the workout videos all make the same promise. The more you sweat, the more weight you lose.
They swear you’ll be soon saying goodbye to the belly blubber, thunder thighs, and arm flab. All you have to do is carefully follow their complicated and strenuous workout plans to the letter.
Well, don’t fall for their hype. It’s just a bunch of marketing BS. And a new study, once again, confirms something I’ve been telling you here in Healthier Talk for years. And that is exercising until you drop ISN’T the answer.
Researchers divided obese senior volunteers into three groups.
- The first group got plenty of exercise but made no changes to their diet.
- Group two did some moderate exercise and cut just 250 calories a day.
- The third group did those same exercises but cut 600 calories a day.
Surprisingly, despite the mainstream’s insistence that “more is always better,” it was actually group two that had the best outcomes. They lost about 10 percent of their body weight. Plus, they had bigger improvements in blood vessel health.
The easiest slim down solution EVER
In other words, there’s absolutely no need for extreme exercise programs or significant food restrictions to lose the weight. In fact, an easy-peasy middle ground is your best chance of getting the results you’re looking for.
As for that moderate exercise… relax. It doesn’t have to be painful or complicated. A brisk daily walk will do the trick, as will most other activities you enjoy, such as dancing, swimming, or even playing golf, as long as you skip the cart.
Plus, many everyday chores can count towards your exercise goals too. Check out this list for a few good options to inspire you.
And you can drop 250 calories a day with almost zero effort simply by cutting a measly 80 calories from each meal. But I have to be honest, I’m not a fan of calorie counting either. So let me make this even easier.
In the long run, what you eat is much more important than how much you eat. So cut back way back on processed foods. Think fresh, natural, and homemade, and you’ll see improvements in your waistline as well as your overall health.
Want to see even more dramatic results? Focus on lowering your carbs. Many of us (maybe even most) are carbohydrate intolerant. So try dropping all the junk carbs and keep your overall intake low and the extra pounds will practically melt away.
