They say depression comes with the turf. That as you get older, you’re going to get a little bluer, too.
That it’s just an inevitable part of aging.
Well, friend, I’m here to say they’re wrong. In fact, NOTHING could be further from the truth!
You can greet 80 with a smile. And laugh right in the face of 90.
And if you hit 100? You may as well be laughing all the way to the bank because you’ve just hit the aging jackpot.
So don’t let anyone – especially not some doc half your age (or less) – dismiss any depression problems you’re fighting as part of your age.
The truth is…
- You DON’T have to accept depression.
- There is NO reason you should have to suffer.
And today, I’m here with an easy way to keep your spirits high no matter how many times the calendar turns over.
The dinner plate secret to avoiding depression
New research finds that the REAL key to protecting yourself against depression starts with what’s on your dinner plate.
It’s often that simple!
The study happened to look at the Mediterranean diet. But if that’s too much salad and not enough meat for you, no worries.
Because the HEART of the diet – the REAL reason it can help you age gracefully and avoid depression – is really the same common-sense advice you’ve gotten all along right here in Healthier Talk.
It’s got Z-E-R-O processed foods.
A lot goes right when you give up the junk carbs and eat REAL foods you fix yourself. No place benefits more than your noggin.
The new study looked at more than 150 active seniors and found that roughly one in four of them had some degree of depression.
But the folks who stuck closest to the unprocessed basics, like those found in the Mediterranean diet, were FAR less likely to be among them.
A simple solution to HAPPY and HEALTHY aging
There are two key reasons why…
- These folks were getting depression fighting omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B12, folate, and antioxidants.
- They WEREN’T getting the empty calories from processed carbs and sugars.
And if you like the leaves-and-seeds (and fish!) approach, then be my guest and try the Mediterranean diet.
But if MEAT makes you happy, here’s another option: Cut back on the carbs and just focus on all-natural foods including grass-fed beef (B12), fatty fish (omega-3s), greens (folate), and fruits (antioxidants).
It’s the perfect brain formula to fight off depression. And if you stick to it, the same diet can help keep your waistline in check and your ticker humming along too.
