Can you spare ten minutes every day?
If so, a new study has found that if you put those ten minutes to good use with this one daily ritual you’ll significantly slash your risk of breast cancer, colon cancer, diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
Not bad for such a small investment of time!
Slash your risk of dying 22% with a daily walk!
A large new mega-analysis has revealed that even small snippets of daily exercise can do wonders for your health.
This latest research follows on the heels of a study done in France, which found that just a 15- minute brisk walk every day could reduce an older adult’s chance of dying by 22 percent.
10 minutes of exercise a day could save your life
Only now, a team of researchers based in the U.S. and Australia has concluded that as little as ten minutes of exercise each day can significantly cut the risk of five leading causes of death.
Those findings, published in the British Medical Journal, were based on an analysis of 124 studies examining the relationship between exercise and the development of one or more of these top five killer conditions.
And the kinds of physical activity the researchers recommended include a variety of things, such as:
- Climbing stairs for 10 minutes,
- Vacuuming for 15 minutes,
- Gardening for 20 minutes,
- Walking or riding a bicycle for 25 minutes.
The point is that you don’t have to take out a gym membership or run marathons to greatly improve your odds of survival to a ripe old age.
If you’re not in the habit of exercising, start slow, perhaps with just a short daily walk. Then work yourself up to one that’s twice as long. Remember, it’s not a race!
All it takes is devoting a short time each day to doing something that literally moves you – moves you, that is, away from the couch, the TV and the computer!
