Most folks who have survived a battle with cancer will tell you the same thing.
The worst part isn’t the tumor. It’s not the endless anxiety. And it’s not even the looming fear of death that often follows a diagnosis.
No, the sad reality for most people is that the worst part of the fight is the treatment itself. And that’s especially true when it comes to chemotherapy.
But the latest research reveals new hope against one of the worst side effects of this toxic therapy. This soothing solution has the potential to change the game in any fight against cancer.
Because unlike so many other treatments for side effects, this isn’t another drug with risks of its own. It’s a perfectly safe vitamin that’s readily available for pennies a day.
Common chemo-triggered condition affects the gut
You could write an entire book on all the ways chemotherapy can be a nightmare.
There’s the endless, draining fatigue. The battle to manage a hazy, spacey, foggy mind. The frustrating memory loss. And of course, it can cause your hair to fall out from head to toe.
But one of the WORST chemo side effects is a condition you don’t hear a lot about. It’s called gastrointestinal mucositis. It’s when your digestive tract gets pocked with ulcers and becomes raw with inflammation.
It can affect every part of your gastrointestinal tract, including your mouth, throat, stomach, and bowels. So now, along with fighting cancer and battling all the other treatment side effects, you end up suffering pain in the gut, nausea, difficult bowel movements, and bleeding “down there.”
Worst of all, there’s no real treatment for chemotherapy triggered mucositis. Or so doctors have thought. Now, a new study out of Australia finds there may be a solution after all. And it’s been hiding in plain sight all along.
Worst chemotherapy side effect soothed with D
The all-natural solution is ordinary vitamin D. And the new study finds that the vitamin could work in at least two critical ways…
- It can ENHANCE the function of the immune system’s all-important T-cells.
- It can FIGHT inflammation, including the digestive tract inflammation that marks this painful side effect.
The researchers say they’re not yet 100 percent confident that D can treat this chemotherapy caused condition. Plus, they’re hoping to find ways to enhance the vitamin so it can more directly target the gut.
But they’ve ALREADY studied several options for soothing gastrointestinal mucositis. They say vitamin D is the “most promising” of ALL those potential treatments.
More study is welcome, of course. The more data we have, the better. But it won’t help anyone facing chemotherapy now or in the near future.
Fortunately, this isn’t some rare and exotic extract that’s only available in a clinical trial. And it’s certainly not dangerous.
It’s plain old vitamin D available to anyone, anywhere, and at a reasonable price. So if you’re fighting cancer, talk to your own doctor about adding this essential nutrient to your daily routine.
