Since it’s a relative newcomer to the scene, there’s isn’t a stack of research into how effective CBD is yet. But a growing number of first-hand accounts and studies are very encouraging.
Following are six things science says CBD oil could help with…
1. Anxiety and depression:
Studies from all over the world, including Brazil, Spain, and the USA have found CBD oil may help relieve anxiety, ease PTSD symptoms, and improve sleep problems.
In one study, a group of folks with social anxiety took CBD before giving a public speech. The CBD reportedly slashed feelings of anxiety, reduced cognitive impairment, and cut back on discomfort. And in animal studies, CBD has shown antidepressant effects.
Canadian research revealed that CBD attaches to pain and inflammation receptors throughout the body. This means the oil could both help relieve pain and improve joint function. And other studies have since backed up these CBD oil benefits.
3. Chronic pain:
Scientists believe that overactive glial cells trigger some cases of chronic pain. The hyperactive cells create inflammation which your nervous system sees as a threat. And its response to the threat is what produces the pain.
But according to several studies, CBD oil may be effective against this type of chronic pain. The oil appears to soothe the glial cells stopping the inflammation and heading off the pain.
4. Cancer symptoms:
CBD may help relieve some of the symptoms associated with both cancer and cancer treatments. In one study when combined with THC it significantly relieved cancer-related pain.
Other research has found it may help relieve nausea and vomiting, common chemo side effects. And early research has revealed CBD may even have some anti-cancer properties.
5. Brain protection:
According to experts, CBD effects some of our brain’s signaling systems. Which means it could help folks facing certain neurological issues. In fact, they may be the most studied CBD oil benefits.
CBD has been used to treat the symptoms of epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. And the FDA has approved CBD oil as a treatment for epileptic seizures.
In one study, a group of 214 people with severe epilepsy took CBD oil based on their weight. The oil reduced seizures by an average of 36.5 percent.
And in another study, a combination of CBD and THC slashed muscle spasms by an incredible 75 percent in a group of folks suffering from multiple sclerosis.
Researchers found CBD oil can help improve sleep and quality of life in people with Parkinson’s disease. And in animal studies, CBD is showing some promise in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease too.
6. Heart health:
Early research suggests CBD oil benefits may include helping to reduce high blood pressure and improve heart health.
In one small placebo-controlled study 600 mg of cannabidiol reduced blood pressure in a group of healthy volunteers. And the CBD didn’t just beat the placebo when they tested resting blood pressure. When the guys took a stress test designed to increase blood pressure, those taking the CBD had a smaller rise in their numbers.
And in animal studies, CBD has reduced both the inflammation and cell death associated with heart disease.
We have a lot more to learn about CBD oil benefits. But the research so far is very encouraging. And the countless first-hand accounts of the oil helping to reduce a variety of troubling symptoms suggest CBD oil is here to stay.
