Two words can send a chill down any woman’s spine. And those, of course, are breast cancer.
For a good reason, too. Breast cancer is one of the leading killers of women in the nation and around the world. One in eight women will be diagnosed with the disease at some point in her life.
And that means you almost certainly know someone who’s had it… maybe even yourself. But today, I’ve got an easy way to slash the fear and cut your risk.
It’s not JUST effective, either. It’s DELICIOUS, too.
New research finds enjoying more yogurt could help block breast cancer, stopping tumors from forming and potentially saving your life.
Yogurt linked to plummeting cancer risk
A study a few years ago had a number in it so mind-boggling that most people dismissed it out of hand.
It appeared that yogurt didn’t just offer a little protection against breast cancer. It was like nothing else out there, slashing the risk dramatically.
That study, published in 2017, found eating yogurt could cut the risk of the disease by up to 39 percent.
What made the findings so hard to believe is that it found just about every other form of dairy either had no impact on breast cancer risk or, in some cases, like with certain cheeses, may have been associated with an increased risk.
So how in the heck could yogurt offer ALL that protection?
How YOGURT helps block breast cancer
Well, researchers say they think they found the answer – and it’s all about bacteria. Specifically, lactose fermenting bacteria.
The breast tissue of women who have breastfed naturally contain these good bugs, which studies show cuts inflammation and the risk of breast cancer with it. Each year of breastfeeding cuts the risk of cancer by 4.3 percent.
But yogurt ALSO contains those same bacteria. And while breastfeeding has a time limit, eating yogurt doesn’t.
There’s one downside to yogurt… and it’s a pretty big one. Much of the yogurt in the supermarket is absolute garbage.
They’re sugared-up and powered-down versions of the good stuff, with low levels of the healthy bacteria you want and higher levels of sweeteners (including that awful “fruit on the bottom” goop).
And most people buy low-fat yogurt, which sounds healthy… but it isn’t really. The fats in yogurt are great for you. And more importantly, they’re filling so you’re not hungry right after eating.
The best way to get more yogurt and all of the breast cancer fighting benefits is to enjoy some plain, full fat, Greek yogurt. It’s so thick and creamy that most people find it’s perfect as-is, although you may have to eat it a few times to give your taste buds a chance to adjust if they’re used to the sugary stuff.
And you can always jazz it up yourself. Try crushed nuts or my favorite some fresh berries to transform any cup of yogurt from a healthy snack into a quick and delicious meal.
