One day, you’re battling high blood pressure. The next… it’s CANCER.
Coincidence? Maybe. But maybe not.
It turns out there might be a link between the two. But it’s not because one condition leads to the other. The cancer could be triggered by the medications used to treat your high blood pressure. Or rather, something IN them.
Drug manufacturers are being forced to sound the alarm. They’ve issued a new warning that a cancer-causing compound is turning up in some common blood pressure medications. And those drugs are now under recall.
But I’m not writing to you today just to point out the risk. Keeping you in constant fear is their game, not mine.
I’m here with something else. And that’s to give you the details on a safe and effective technique that can cut blood pressure naturally.
And if it works for you like it has so many others, you may no longer have to choose between one risky drug or another.
The (latest) trouble with blood pressure meds
If all this sounds a little familiar, there’s a reason for that. It’s because we’ve been down this road before.
Except for this time, there’s a BIG difference.
Past recalls mainly involved generic drugs. And that’s led to some folks going back to the big-name branded meds despite their bigger price tag. Because they think they might be “safer.”
But this latest recall involves one of the biggest drug-company names in the industry: Pfizer.
Pfizer is voluntarily withdrawing several lots of the brand-name drug Accuretic and two generic drugs: quinapril and hydrochlorothiazide, and quinapril HCl/hydrochlorothiazide.
The reason is chilling. These prescription blood pressure meds could contain a compound that shouldn’t be there at all called nitrosamine, which was detected at above the “acceptable” levels.
Long-term exposure to those higher levels could lead to cancer.
And that’s why it’s frightening. Because no one takes blood pressure meds the way they do painkillers for a headache or an antibiotic for an infection.
Blood pressure drugs aren’t temporary solutions for a short-term problem. You’re expected to be on them pretty much forever.
The standard advice is to talk to your doctor to see if you’re on an affected drug and consider switching if you are. But what good is that if the medication you turn to ends up being a part of the NEXT recall?
As farfetched as that may sound, the truth is it could happen. Because drug recalls keep occurring.
We’ve seen it happen to small companies that produce generic drugs. And now, we’re seeing it happen to one of the biggest of the Big Pharma names.
Making the switch and ditching the drugs
This latest news makes one thing clear for anyone taking a blood pressure medication. It’s time to work on a plan to try to tackle your hypertension without the meds.
You’ll never have to worry about the latest drug recalls because you won’t be on ANY of them. And I’ve got the perfect starting point for you today. It’s a compound found in one of the most delicious foods on the planet: watermelon.
The lycopene that gives watermelons, tomatoes, and papayas their gorgeous rich colors from pink to orange can also work wonders for hypertension.
An analysis earlier this year found it could shave 2.6 points off blood pressure on average. Plus, it also found that the higher your BP is in the first place, the more effective the lycopene appears to be.
One study found it can take as much as 10 points off your systolic blood pressure (and five off your diastolic).
But, to be realistic, not many of us would be able to eat enough watermelon or tomatoes to make a significant dent in our high blood pressure. So while I do encourage you to eat these delicious and nutritious fruits, I also suggest you consider a lycopene supplement.
Improving blood pressure is just one of lycopene’s many benefits. For more on how this multitasking nutrient could help keep us healthy… including battling hypertension… see my earlier report here.
Of course, you should never quit ANY medication without speaking to your doctor first to ensure you can do so safely.
