Listen up men—and ladies that love them—erectile dysfunction (E.D.) is incredibly common. We’re talking about at least 30 million American men here. In fact, E.D. effects almost all men at some point in their lives, and it becomes even more common as you age.
Take any group of guys over 40—say your poker buddies or your golf crew for example—and the chances are 30 to 50 percent of them are struggling with E.D. at this very moment. In other words, it’s certainly nothing to be embarrassed about. And it’s not something you should just have to live with.
There are drugs that may help with E.D. of course. If you watch any kind of sports you probably can recite them by name since Big Pharma loves to buy airtime during the ballgame. But for lots of guys the serious side effects that can come with these drugs are far too much of a risk, and they’d prefer to try something natural instead.

Red ginseng:
You’ve probably heard of ginseng before, but red ginseng (Panax ginsenx) is a bit different. The Korean herb is specifically harvested only after the plant has matured for at least six years. And it’s the root of the plant, which strangely resembles a human body, that’s actually used to make remedies to treat everything from elevated blood sugar to E.D.
Experts theorize that the herb may be raising nitric oxide levels, which in turn relaxes the muscles down south boosting blood flow to the area. But while researchers are still scrambling to figure out exactly how red ginseng works, for many men there’s no doubt that it does.
Countless guys have reported that the herb helped them resolve their issues in the bedroom, leading to stronger erections and more frequent rolls in the hay.
And while the lab results on red ginseng have been a bit of a mixed bag, there is emerging research backing up those firsthand experiences. In fact, according to a meta-review published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, in six different studies in the batch researchers reviewed red ginseng beat out the placebo in cases of E.D.1
And in a double-blind, placebo controlled study researchers reported that men who took red ginseng for eight weeks experienced a drop in premature ejaculation and improvement in sexual function.2 The researchers concluded that the herb “can be used as an alternative medicine to improve sexual life in men with sexual dysfunction.”
Red ginseng is a known energy booster, something that can be of benefit in the bedroom. But, as a result, some guys have reported insomnia when taking the supplement.
Typical dosages range from 900 to 1,800 milligrams a day, sometimes taken in two or more doses. If you decide to give red ginseng a try (with your doc’s thumbs up, of course) follow the directions on the supplement packaging.
L-arginine:
L-arginine is an essential amino acid found naturally in the body. It helps improve blood flow and circulation, and according to the Mayo Clinic there’s good evidence that l-arginine supplements can help folks with coronary artery disease, angina, or clogged arteries.
Which, of course, makes it a natural for treating E.D. too.
L-arginine is converted into nitric oxide in the body, which stimulates blood vessels to open up increasing blood flow all over, including where you need it most to help improve erections and heat things back up in the bedroom.
In a study published in the Journal of Sexual and Marital Therapy, men suffering with impotence were given a combo of l-arginine and French Maritime Pine Bark (a pine bark extract that also boosts nitric oxide). By the end of the three month study an incredible 92.5 percent of the men reported they were essentially cured, able to achieve a normal erection once again.3 The researchers concluded that the combo effectively improves E.D. without any side effects.
A typical dosage of l-arginine is one to two grams up to three times a day. However l-arginine is often included in more comprehensive E.D. formulas with herbs such as French Maritime Pine Bark Extract or yohimbine, so simply follow the manufacturer’s directions. And keep in mind, experts say you shouldn’t combine l-arginine with E.D. drugs.
Tribulus terrestris:
Although many folks have never heard of it before Tribulus terrestris is no newcomer to the scene. This herb has been used for centuries in traditional medicine, and is often used to enhance male fertility.
In a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study a group of men suffering with E.D. reported an increased libido and improved sexual function after taking a Tribulus terrestris supplement for two months.4 Researchers confirmed the men’s testosterone levels rose by 16 percent as well.

Tribulus is often included in more comprehensive male support formulas. A typical dosage is around 250 mg.
