Viral infections can be frightening. Because unlike bacterial illnesses, you can’t pop an antibiotic to get rid of a virus.
That can leave you feeling like a sitting duck and looking for an edge. And today, I’ve got one for you.
There’s a natural way to supercharge your immune system to give your body an edge against viral invaders.
It could help protect you from infection, in some cases, maybe even stopping them from striking in the first place. And if you do get sick, this potent natural superstar may help you to fight it off faster, so you get back in action quicker.
But most surprising of all is that it comes from one of the humblest places… olives. And not even the olive itself, but the leaf.
Promising studies reveal how the compounds locked inside the olive leaf can help your body fight viruses, so you stay healthy.
TURBO-CHARGE your immune system
Now, to be clear, the best way to fight ANY virus is to not be exposed in the first place. So while it’s good to arm your immune system, so it has a better chance against infection, nothing can replace plain old common sense.
When ANYTHING is floating around out there, be careful and avoid going out when you don’t have to (and definitely avoid all crowds right now).
And if you do get sick, of course, seek help. Call your doctor at the first hint of trouble, to be safe.
But the good news is if you combine caution with great hygiene and a robust immune system, you may never have to reach that point.
And nothing can help charge up your immune system quite like the oleuropein and calcium elenolate found in olive leaf extract, or OLE.
Raise a shield to viruses with olive leaf extract
An analysis in the Alternative Medicine Review found evidence in both lab and animal studies that the compounds in OLE can help fight off multiple viruses as well as certain bacteria.
The potent bug fighters seem to stop certain viruses from replicating, including the ones that cause cold and flu.
The same study finds the olive leaf extract can trigger a process called phagocytosis. That’s when an immune cell detects a microbe and basically swallows it up and wipes it out.
The study even found benefits to olive leaf tea. If you have a sore throat caused by a virus, make yourself a mug… wait for it to cool… and gargle with the tea. The tea appears to cut inflammation, ease pain, and may even reduce the viral infection in the throat itself.
Typically, experts recommend 500-1,000 mg of OLE per day or twice a day. Keep in mind that olive leaf extract can lower blood pressure. So if you are already on a BP med check with your doctor. Your own doctor can help you figure out if this is the right approach for you, and how much to take.
And remember, if you’re battling a nasty infection, ALWAYS call your doctor to ensure you get the right treatment quickly.
