Let’s face it, oil isn’t exactly what you’d call a traditional Christmas gift.
Ok, I’ll admit that one of the Wise Men DID bring myrrh… a type of oil… as a gift on that very first Christmas.
But while I’m sure Mary and Joseph appreciated it, I doubt the baby Jesus was all that thrilled.
In fact, if oil is all you give to a kid, they’re probably going to stick their tongue out at you from behind the tree. So save yourself the angst and be sure to show up with a toy or something, too.
But if a child in your life has been diagnosed with ADHD, you can also give them an unusual little present that has the potential to change their life.
A gift that could help HALT the hyperactivity… ENSURE focus… and RESTORE calm.
And it could bring back that sweet little kid you once knew instead of that bouncing, pouncing terror you now half-fear when they come to visit.
Heck, in some kids, it even works BETTER than common meds. And it comes without the scary side effects or risk of addiction, either.
Harmless AND often effective? There’s really no reason to NOT give it a try.
How ordinary fish oil can reverse ADHD
It’s unfolding right in front of our eyes. One of the biggest nutritional crises we’ve ever faced as a nation. And yet it gets almost no attention.
Americans… especially our kids… aren’t getting nearly enough omega-3 fatty acids in their diet.
In adults, of course, we need omega-3s for proper circulation and heart protection. But in kids, it’s ESSENTIAL for healthy brain development and function.
This is why it isn’t all that surprising that research has repeatedly shown that many children with ADHD are very low in omega-3s.
That’s where the new study comes into the picture. It concluded that a key component in fish oil called EPA can deliver incredible results in children who are low in this vital nutrient.
Kids in the trial with low EPA levels were given 1.2 grams of the fatty acid per day in the form of a supplement. And they had significant improvements in two critical ADHD symptoms…
- focused attention
But that’s not all. In the children with low-EPA, the fish-oil benefits were TWO, THREE, and even FOUR TIMES better than the improvements typically seen from the drug methylphenidate, aka Ritalin.
And the improvements might be even bigger if the EPA is combined with DHA, the other main omega-3 fatty acid found in fish oil.
Making omega-3s work for the kid in YOUR life
There’s one catch here.
It’s not a very big catch, but it’s still a catch. These aren’t your ordinary doses of fish oil, especially if you combine 1.2 grams of EPA with a suitable dosage of DHA, which would bring the total to 2 grams or more.
It’s not a dangerous dose, by any stretch. But it is high enough you should make sure the child’s parents and doctors are on board with giving it a try.
You also won’t get these levels from a single capsule. It could take several, and getting kids to choke them back each day could be a challenge of its own, especially early on.
But as the new study shows, it’ll be well worth the effort, not only helping to deliver better behavior at home but better performance in school, too.
And that’s the kind of gift that could last a lifetime.
