Remember those exploding pens in the old spy movies?
I say it’s time we bring them back!
Not the harmful kind, of course. Just the version which blows ink all over your pocket, ruining yet another good shirt.
Make these pens the ONLY kind which works on a prescription pad.
Whenever a doc writes a script, he shouldn’t… when he takes the LAZY way out and pushes a drug like a proton pump inhibitor for acid reflux instead of trying a better, safer solution first… the pen counts down.
Once it’s safely back in the pocket: BLAP!
That’ll teach ’em!
Trust me, this is one of the NICER solutions I’ve come up with since a new report revealed how docs are abusing the power of the prescription pad like never before.
Millions taking unnecessary acid reflux drugs
They’re dishing out PPIs like Nexium, Prevacid, and Prilosec in cases where even mainstream authorities agree the patients SHOULDN’T get them.
They’re not just going “a little” overboard here.
It’s reached the brink of insanity: More than THREE OUT OF FOUR patients on acid reflux drugs are getting them inappropriately.
That adds up to easily more than 10 million Americans taking these drugs when they shouldn’t. And THAT’S just the tip of the iceberg.
This study only looked at prescriptions. Since these meds are also readily available over-the-counter now, you can bet millions more are taking them because a doc told them to just pick it up at any big-box store or discount pharmacy chain.
And that’s not even the most INSANE part of this new study.
They put docs through what amounts to a little experiment. They were given education on the appropriate use of PPIs and information on the consequences of misusing them.
The idea was to help them easily identify situations in which they could… and SHOULD… resolve folk’s acid reflux without using PPI drugs.
And more than half STILL prescribed the drugs inappropriately.
In other words, I’m gonna need a LOT of those pens!
Replace MAJOR risks with this 99 cent solution
And this isn’t just about the cash wasted on unnecessary meds. There’s a REAL reason we need to limit these acid reflux drugs.
LOTS of reasons, in fact.
They can alter your stomach acid so dramatically that you can lose magnesium, leading to a dangerous deficiency. That altered balance can also kill off GOOD bacteria and allow DANGEROUS ones to thrive – leading to increased risk of some especially nasty infections including pneumonia and C. diff.
Acid reflux drugs have even been linked to DOUBLE the risk of stomach cancer!
Worst of all? There are simple, all-natural cures that for many folks, work just as well as the drugs. In some cases, even BETTER. And yet most people never hear a peep about them from their docs.
Take baking soda, for example. Yes, the 99 cent white powder you use to keep your fridge fresh can beat out drugs that rake in billions.
Just mix a teaspoon of baking soda into a glass of cool water, let it sit until it clears, and then drink it up. It can quickly neutralize acid reflux and help you to feel better in a flash, no risks involved.
