It’s not news that junk foods like donuts and candy bars aren’t part of a healthy diet. And no one has ever dug into a bag of potato chips and thought they were doing something good for their health.
But let’s face it, most of indulge in the not-so-good for us stuff from time to time.
If you generally eat well but allow yourself certain “cheat” foods, you’re not alone. Most folks do. But it turns out there are certain foods that are harboring a dirty little secret that could put you on the fast track to aging.
Remove these popular foods from your shopping list

If you’re still eating any of these popular name-brand foods, you’re not only undoing all the good you’re getting from your healthy diet. You may be making yourself old before your time.
1. Coffee Mate creamer:
Many folks have made the switch from real cream or half and half to Coffee Mate nondairy creamer because they thought it was a healthier choice. After all, the label says the creamer has no saturated fats and it’s a cholesterol free food.
The trouble is many varieties of Coffee Mate nondairy creamer still contain hydrogenated oils which means despite what the label may lead you to believe they contain damaging trans fats. Since a product can have up to .49 grams of trans fats in a serving and still claim to have none, they’re able to hide in plain sight.
Trans fats cause inflammation which is a primary cause of premature aging. Plus, they mess with cholesterol, so you may be have a greater risk for heart disease. Switch back to far healthier real cream to help put the brakes on premature aging.
Colas such as Coke, Diet Coke and Coke Zero have an ugly secret. They all contain an ingredient that can contribute to thinning frail bones.
Phosphorus acid is associated with an increased risk of osteoporosis as well as other age-related diseases such as kidney problems and muscle atrophy. Skip the colas and reach for something healthier instead such as green tea, coffee or delicious and healthy “fruit-spiked” water.
3. Kellogg’s Raisin Bran:
Bet you thought raisin bran was a healthy choice for breakfast, right? Well it turns out we’ve been hoodwinked.
Kellogg’s Raisin Bran cereal has a staggering 18 grams of sugar per serving! And all that sugar can contribute to dull skin, wrinkles, bags and sags.
You see, sugar produces Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) and AGEs are behind the most visible signs of aging. Switch from junk carb heavy cereals for breakfast to delicious protein-packed eggs instead.
Still prefer cereal? Make it steel cut oats.
4. Rice Krispie Treats:
Not only are Rice Krispie Treats dripping with damaging sugar, they’re almost entirely processed carbohydrates.
Unlike healthy carbs, over time processed carbs can damage collagen, so your skin loses firmness and elasticity. Skin that doesn’t bounce back makes you look old, no matter what your true age.

5. Ritz Whole Wheat Crackers:
With whole wheat right there in the name Ritz Whole Wheat Crackers sound healthy, don’t they? Guess again. These crackers are flavored with one of the worst AGEs producers on the planet, high fructose corn syrup or HFCS.
Read labels carefully to avoid products that masquerade as health foods, but harbor unhealthy ingredients. Replace your crackers with veggie slices which are good for you and still provide a nice satisfying crunch.
Step off the fast track to aging. If you have any of these five age-accelerating foods in your pantry, it’s time to toss them.
