Stress, diet and weather can all take their toll on your skin. They can leave the biggest organ in your body feeling rough and dry, and looking puffy, red or just plain dull.
Today I’m going to share some simple natural skincare tricks you can pamper yourself with using things you already have at home in your kitchen.
5 practically free natural skincare tricks
These easy home-beauty hacks will leave your skin soft, glowing and gorgeous, for just pennies.
If you have five minutes, and an ice cube, you can perk up dull tired-looking skin, reverse redness and even reduce under eye circles. Gently rub the ice cube in a circular motion across your forehead, under your eyes, across your cheeks and even under your chin.
The cold of the ice will tighten up your pores, reduce inflammation and help shrink the capillaries under your eyes to reduce the appearance of dark circles. It’s like getting a mini facelift using nothing more than ice!
2. Brown sugar and coconut oil:
Rough, dry, cracked feet or elbows require a little extra attention. A brown sugar and coconut oil scrub you can whip up in your kitchen is the perfect solution. The brown sugar granules are an effective exfoliator—gently scrubbing away rough, dead skin. While the moisturizing coconut oil penetrates deeply into the thicker foot and elbow skin, leaving behind baby soft skin.
Mix together two tablespoons of brown sugar with a half cup of coconut oil. Rub in a circular motion, covering your feet. Use a warm wet washcloth to remove any excess scrub.
3. A spoon:
This is one of my favorite tricks, and it won’t cost you a cent. When you’ve been burning the candle at both ends, or simply get a poor night’s sleep, the first place it shows is your face. But you can reduce that under-eye puffiness, and get rid of the tired-eyes look using nothing more than a spoon.
Here’s how it works. Keep a couple of spare spoons in your freezer. When you find yourself suffering from morning-after-eyes grab a spoon and gently place the back of the spoon over your eyelid, or under your eye, and allow it to sit for a couple of minutes. The cold spoon will help reduce inflammation and puffiness, leaving you with brighter, more awake looking eyes.
4. Lemon and sugar:
Slice a lemon in half and sprinkle a teaspoon or so of sugar on one of the cut halves. Gentle rub across your skin in a light, circular motion.
Lemons are naturally antibacterial, making them a great solution for gently drawing the dirt and bacteria out of your pores. And since lemon juice is a mild astringent it can help fight blackheads and acne, while leaving your skin feeling less oily. The sugar in this combo acts as a mild exfoliant. It gently removes dry, dead skin brightening your face, and allowing the lemon juice to penetrate further into your pores.
5. Epsom salt and coconut oil:
Dry flaky lips don’t stand a chance if you have some Epsom salt and coconut oil on hand. Mix one teaspoon of Epsom salt with two tablespoons of coconut oil. Apply and gentle rub in. This gentle combo will slough off dead, flaky skin, leaving behind soft, healthy looking lips.
